An experiment moves left to right. Two of those moves belong to whoever runs the lab, so work is agreed before anyone spends reagents on it, and results are seen before they are filed away.
Every move is timestamped and attributed. Six months later you can still see who approved what, and when.
Every experiment has one owner, and sits in that person's row. You can see what someone is carrying without asking them, and a timeline view shows the same work against dates.
Flag an experiment as waiting on a decision, a reagent, or another person. Waiting is a state worth seeing rather than something that surfaces in a meeting three weeks later.
Comment on a card, tag someone in, reply in a thread. Unread activity is marked, so a question does not sit unanswered because it arrived in the wrong inbox.
Projects and sub-projects mirror the folders you already keep, with links through to the right folder, notebook entry, raw data, and slides.

Connected to your electronic lab notebook, an experiment shows when its entry was last touched, so a stalled experiment looks different from a busy one.
The board is free for your whole team. Not a trial, and not capped at a number of people that stops a real lab from using it. We build tools for our own microscopy work, and this is one worth handing to the rest of the field.
Later there will be a paid tier for the integrations that connect stria to the rest of your stack. The board itself stays free.
